The following 5 day course will focus on building with round logs. The course will cover bottom plate and wall logs only.

The course is 5 days long. Her you will find an explanation of the content. 

Monday 02 to Friday 06 September 2019: Round log technique.
Material properties, tool handling and maintenance
site preparation, bottom plate logs, corner notch, scribing, horizontal channel,  dowels, kerfing, wall openings and wall insulation.

Safety-wear, (trousers) eye and ear protection, are mandatory and must be provided by you. Logs are prepared before the course. Following norwegian tradition, logs are hand-peeled, dried to 20% moisture content, then hand-planed. All necessary tools will be provided for the duration of the course. On this course we use spruce.


Accomodation in log cabins 5 mins walk from course site. 
Bedding sheets provided but no food. Accomodation is equipped with:  fully stocked kitchen, wc and showers.  Foodstore: 3kms 

 Course outcome: upon completion of the course, students will have gained enough skill and understanding of Norwegian log building with round logs, to start with projects of their own. Daily hands-on training from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. 2 evenings with lectures/group work. Course languages: English and Norwegian.

Instructor: Master Log Builder George Fuller, 28 years experience with Norwegian log building. George has been running the school for 21 years.
